Umpires

Umpiring provides many benefits namely, improved decision making, increased confidence as a player, a greater understanding of the rules, dispute resolution skills, time management and a part-time job income.

At Blue Jays, we supply at least one umpire for every team nominated per season. Blue Jays umpires are allocated to games weekly on a roster system, and as they become more experienced, can upskill their qualifications and become badged umpires, which allows greater opportunities beyond club level netball umpiring.

Blue Jays umpires adhere to a code of conduct which can be found here

Blue Jays believes in supporting our umpires to develop their officiating skills through online courses, clinics, mentoring activities and 'on the job' training. Blue Jays umpires are remunerated for their umpiring.

All Blue Jays umpires must be at least 13 years in age to commence the UDP Foundation course.

Our umpires have completed the BNA Foundation umpiring course and associated exams and those over 18 years of age must have completed a Working with Children check (and maintain an active Blue Card) in line with Queensland Government legislation.
